About Donna Gould

Mission Statement

Over the years we all accumulate "stuff" in the attic, basement, and garage. Boxes of memories, unfinished projects, and stored emotions from the past can get in our way when we try to move forward to more productive lives. My goal is to help you: unpack the painful parts of your life; decide what to keep and what to throw out; and move into your new place of health, happiness and harmony.

I believe in treating the whole person. There are complex connections between the mind and the body; the body and the soul; the person and the community. Whether a child, individual, couple, or family, whatever the crisis, stress, or situation, I am here to listen, to offer support, and to help you build or remodel your life for a better, brighter future.

"Clients want to feel confident a therapist is qualified to offer services.
I have over twenty-two years experience helping people improve their lives."

Therapy Related Background

As a post graduate of Syracuse University in New York, I have received training in and have practiced diverse specialties, including but not limited to: adjunct teacher for a local college, participant in the Martha G. Welch program for the treatment of Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), participant in Marsha Linehan's programs for Anger Management and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, participation in numerous Family Mental Health and Substance Abuse Programs conferences under such noted teachers as Robert Goulding, M.D. and attendance at yearly conferences for the application of pharmaceuticals.

I like to think of my approach to therapy as home improvement. I enjoy helping people create a personal space to live, to decorate their lives with positive goals and behaviors, and to have enhanced social relations with family, friends, and neighbors. I have lived in Rochester and its suburbs all my life. My family of origin includes 10 siblings, parents who did not divorce, and a large extended family. I am married to Jim, so far over 35 years, and we have two children and three grandchildren. For over 22 years, I have practiced as a licensed therapist studying family systems.
